QT Uncompressed files display with White Screen
I’m stumped.
I have a few QT files that are uncompressed 8 bit. On my new 8 Core Intel Mac, and on lots of our G5s, I can see this file just fine. We’re running 10.4.9 and QT 7.1.6.
On all of my Intel XServes, with the exact same installed universal binary QT codecs as my 8 Core, these same QT uncompressed files only display a white screen. In get info the codec is listed as Uncompressed 8bit 4:2:2. Last time I checked, this didn’t even require a codec let alone have a missing one.
Any ideas why the XServes can’t read these QTs? I’ve even updated the QT to 7.2 hoping there was an Intel bug, but that didn’t fix this.

Trying to open it on the XServe itself? Not from an edit station connected to the XServe?
Well, the issue is that the codec you used is only seen by systems running FCP. Without FCP, the XServe cnnot see the file. The codec is part of the FCP install.

Yes, directly on the XServe. The XServes serve as our media transcoders running Telestream Episode Engine so they need access naturally.
I’ve opened this QT file on G5s that do not have FCP installed. Isn’t Uncompressed essentially a codec free format?

No. It is not. It was written specifically for FCP.
If you install the software codecs for Blackmagic Decklink or AJA Kona, available on their websites, you should be able to read these files.

I tried Blackmagic codec, no go.
I just opened up this Uncompressed file on a bare bones Mac Mini that has no codecs installed at all except the Apple Intermediate codec. I’m thinking this is a XServe specific or OS X Server specific issue?
