  Heeelp..creating GRFX for a tiled plasma wall

  hey y’all

  My dilemma:

  As always I have been given a tight deadline(this Thursday) for producing grxf for a fashion show. The problem as it presents itself:

  I am to produce grfx that are to be presented on a collection PDP plasma screens which will be combined to make up a 2(wide) x 5(height) tiled plasma screen wall.The resolution I am working with according to the techhead is 1706(w) x 2400(h), which is ok..(he will be responsible for tiling my grfx.)

  I am making the grfx in After Effects, but are having issues rendering something that size, problem being, an error comes up which mentions, a quicktime codec error.
  So I think to get around this problem i should render off a tiff sequence. I have to deliver these grfx on DVD format and anticipate problems with compression and prepping the files for Studio Pro.
  I will be using final cut to prep the files.

  My questions:
  IS there an easier way of doing this, in terms of using a codec that allows me to produce a movie rather than a tiff sequence?

  Sure, but what would be the point? (read the following)

  I’m sure it will, but what would you do with it? If you are to deliver your stuff on DVD (video), your resolution is limited to 720×480 as specified in the standard, meaning that you would have to split up your comp in suitable chunks before even beginning to think of putting them on DVD.

  If you are using the DVD as a data transfer medium only, it shouldn’t matter much in which format you deliver since it is going to be imported on the system for the show and most likely played back from harddisk to the split switch. All realtime systems love Targas, what else the specific hardware in your scenario will accept you need to inquire.

  of course that makes complete sense..,my little brain sometimes overlooks these things….i will have to have another yarn to my tech-head…and see what the best possible solution we have available while keeping it within the budget…that has been very helpful…now i know how to ask the right questions?
