I’m experiencing a slight change in levels and or gamma when sending a XDcamHD timeline clip to motion and then returning.

I’m exporting as a self-contained clip (the other way doesn’t work reliably).

When I export (XDcamHD codec) out of Motion2 back to FCP levels are different. Not very bad but noticibly different.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is it perhaps an RGBvYUV colourspace thing or something?

[Alan Lacey] “RGBvYUV colourspace thing or something?”

    Most likely.

you mention you don’t roundtrip from the timeline but first export self contained and then bring into Motion … did you check to see if there is any gamma/level shift during the initial export > quicktime movie? ie bring that back into FCP and compare against original
just trying to eliminate the suspects

Andy, I did check the export and it was identical with the master.

    Thanks
