Panasonic AJ-HD 1400 and Mac Pro
Hi-
Is anyone using this setup to go directly into FCP 6 (Mac Pro dual 2.66/dual core)? Any known issues?

Firewire output can be a problem as the audio is crackly. It seems as if the mac and deck aren’t syncing properly or something. Supposedly os 10.4.10 fixed carackly audio, but I’m not sure if it applies to FCP and firewire output or not. I have not had the chance to test if it is fixed.

Hmmmm, forgot all about that one. You’re right. Firewire output to the deck did add a crackle to the audio.
I’ll have to test that and see if they did fix it. We just switched over to a complete HD-SDI workflow when that issue came up and I forgot about it.

It got me on an onsite edit I did about a month or so ago and all I had was my laptop and a 1400. I also had an AJA io, but I couldn’t get the deck to do an audio only insert edit. I don’t know if the os update fixed it or not. If you find out, let me know. It make me really want an ioHD so I could stick with my HD SDI workflow.
I brought my laptop and not my full rig to save the producer money, but it ended up being a nightmare for me. And so it goes….
