  • question for the HDV folks about losing render files

Posted by Zack Hill on July 18, 2007 at 5:28 am

I am doing a project in HDV that was shot on a smaller canon camera and am editing in FCP 6.0.1. I imported the footage with HDV 108060 codec, and its editing just fine, but I seem to lose my render files quite often, and its not that they come up offline, they just go away, and I have to re-render. Seems to happen to the clips that I have used the steady cam function with. Any ideas as to why this would be happening?

I would suggest that you try:

    1) trash your prefs

    2) then use the Render Manager to delete all render files for that timeline

    3)then rerender

I can’t promise that will fix your problem, but it just might.

im having the exact same problem. except its with a 2 hour wedding video project and it takes 10-12 hours at a time to render. And yes, FCP just decides ‘hey i need to render it all again’ as the footage (with the smoothcam) needs rendering

hi, what do you mean, or rather how do you ‘trash your prefs’?

    many thanks,

    James

I have not tried the trashing prefs yet, but its easy to do. do a “trash prefs” search here, or in google, and it should come up. As far as understanding why this HDV bug is happening, if you figure it out let me know!
    thanks,
