  Avid DV Codec

  Hi, I exported some large files out of Avid, as self-contained Quicktime movies, to be used on another computer in FCP. The Mac that I created the files on (exported from Avid) plays the files fine in Quicktime and in FCP–but the other three Macs (G4’s and a G5), can’t play the video, only the sound.
  A codec called ‘Avid DV’ was used in exporting the files to .mov’s. Is there somewhere that I can download the Avid DV codec, so that I can edit these files on my home computer. If I get the codec, will it solve my problem?

  avid codecs available here.

  just install the latest versions.

  Avid codecs have behaved somewhat flakey within FCP. If you have trouble, you might want to use Compressor to convert the files to the standard DV codec.
