Hi all, I’ve been tasked with compositing two runners in a special effects shot. The first runner is running toward camera straight on. The second runner is behind the first and is revealed as he runs off screen right. This spot will be similar to the clone spots that have been popular lately using cars and sometimes people breaking away or off of their original image moving in a different direction. I need to create an organic effect to simulate the second runner peeling away from the first. Think matrix agent takeover here, but 2D. We don’t have time or horsepower to do in 3D. I have been playing with Re:vision Flex with some “OK” results, but not exactly there yet. Any suggestions?? Morph, blend, etc. etc. Deadline looming.

    Thanks in advance Shim

Accumulate a few frames with Echo to create some trail, the displace it slightly with Turbulent Displace. Do this in a pre-comp. Use it in your main comp and warp/ morph it along with your otehr footage. For fading in the second actor, build a gradient wipe/ matte based on some Factal Noise perhaps.
