Does anyone else try editing over a 1 gigabit ethernet network and have problems? I don’t digitize over the network but I’ve quite successfully edited over the network. I have a G5 desktop with an external firewire and internal, and a laptop MacBook pro. My laptop connects to the G5’s two HDDs (the internal is FCP media and the external is project media such as anims, gfx etc) and I set these mapped drives as my scratch disks. It has worked fine up until just now. I haven’t touched this project for a while and when I have come back to work on it it works OK for a while and then gets really glitchy. Digital splats on the screen, video doesn’t play, audio breaks up and doesn’t play, basically doesn’t work. Plus I get a Disk I/O error if I try to export the timeline. Would this be because I’m working over the network?
