  • HDV and AIC codec – orange bars on non-effected clips

I’m new to editing HDV material in FCP 5.1.4. I have a quad 2.66. I’m ingesting the HDV using the AIC. I get the orange render bars when I simply drop the clips on the timeline with no effects or anything- just straight video. Is this normal? I know that everything need to be conformed after the project is complete, but I was under the impression that FCP handles HDV much in the same way that DV is handled, but with a lengthy conform at the end. right? Should I be getting orange bars right off the bat?

Sound like your timeline settings do not completely match the settings of the captured video.

I figured it out. I had the sequence settings to HDV- 1080i/60 instead of AIC- 1080i/60

    Thanks,
