So I ran into some detrimental problems with a JVC deck last night…

Log and Capture worked great from the deck to my portable setup: a MacBookPro 2.33 GHz Intel, running Studio 2 with the latest updates of Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 I was running final cut, with a capture scratch located on an external harddrive through Firewire800, and exporting to the JVC deck with Firewire400.

Editing worked great…but when it came to printing to tape, things fell apart. I could export a clean video signal via firewire to the mini-dv deck, but the Stereo 16-bit audio tracks (48.000 kHz) would only export a high pitched buzz.

I did a lot of troubleshooting in the software…I’m sure I covered my bases with Audio/Video settings, sequence settings, and exporting to deck revealed good audio meters in Final Cut, but bad meters on the deck, so I reasoned that

I reasoned that if log and capture worked fine, then there isn’t an issue with the cables…

So strange. When I tried to export to a different deck, everything worked great. Is there a conflict using the Apple DV Firewire with certain decks? Or format issues out to mini-dv?
