  Export to QT mov file with alpha channel transparency

  Hi there,

  I’m using FCP 5.1, working on a project where I’ve used ‘ChromaKeyer’ to key out a green screen. Have gotten good results, but can’t work out how to output to a QT mov file while still retaining the transparency alpha channel.

  Can anybody help…?

  I take it you want the greenscreen to be transparent…

  Key the subject over the background. Remove the background. Export using a codec that supports an Alpha channel, such as the Animation Codec at Millions of Colors +

  IMPORTANT: DO NOT RENDER! Rendering flattens your export and makes a composite image. Leaving it un-rendered retains transparency.

  Export Quicktime movie -> then click Settings -> scroll down to custom-> use animation codec as compressor -> click advanced -> then million+ colors. I just had to do this today and it worked!
