Is there any special consideration if I want to setup my Final Cut Pro system using a firewire 800 drive as the capture scratch and a DVCAM deck as the source/recorder using a firewire 400 port? It sounds so obviously simple that I just wanted to check to see if there is something I am overlooking. Thanks.

It will work, but you’d do better to get a PCI firewire 800 card and plug the drive into that. This will seperate the hard drive from the system bus. You’ll get better performance.

Be sure to consult your computer’s manual as the type of PCI slots change frequently from model to model.
