    Hi there,

I read a lot of posts concerning ProRes here but it didn’t really answer my question.. I hope someone can?

A friend of mine has an 8 Core Mac Pro with 4GB of RAM and when he’s edditting in ProRes he has to render each time he adds a cross dissolve or a title. He expected his 8 Core monster to do this in realtime but it doesn’t.. Even when he sets RT to safe or dynamic and the quality to medium he gets the same performance render-wise.. His disks are an issue anyway cause he’s now using an internal SATA drive but would that influence this RT behaviour?

I tried it here on my 4 Core 2,66 Ghz Mac Pro and I saw the exact same behaviour.. Am I missing something here?

The material is ProRes 422 HQ 1080i.

    Thanks ahead for any reply!

You need raid of some kind to get the best RT performance.

I am getting the same crappy real time issues running Pro res 720 59.94 HQ…and no one can tell me why. Now that I have captured all of my footgae in this format, I am stuck.
