V1U 24pA FCP capture issues- timecode breaks
I’ve got 32 MiniDV HD tapes recorded on a sony HVR V1U in 24pA mode to capture and work with in FCP. Due to the nature of capturing in 24pA, there is a timecode ‘blip’ every time the camera man hit record / stop. Therefore when I digitize these tapes, I’m getting anywhere from 60 – 200 clips per tape, which means a very messy project. Also with around 3000 – 4000 clips in the project it would make running each clip through cinema tools to reverse telecine almost impossible.
I have tried capturing with ‘ignore timecode breaks’ but it doesn’t work, just reports an error.
* Is there any way of importing these tapes in large chunks, ignoring the timecode? But in the correct workflow for editing 24pA in FCP?
* If not, can I dub the tapes, (using the camera to play, and a hired deck to record), writing fresh timecode to the new tapes, and retain the footage in it’s original state?
* Would the Lumiere plug in eliminate my issues? (I did not see the HVR V1U listed as being supported on their website)
* Any suggestions as to how best to progress????? Other information sources to hep me understand this issue better?
