    I’m trying to capture a tape using log and batch and it stops after 2 seconds saying “Frames were dropped” and it aborts the capture
    I’m on a g5 – nothing going on in the background and my scratch disk is set to an external firewire 800 disk with plenty of room
    How can I solve the prob?

    Split your fw devices on separate busses. As of now your fw deck and fw800 dries are trying to share the same bandwidth and FCP is not getting it done.

    Put in a FW800 PCI card and your problems will likely go away.

    You have to purchase a PCI FW card, it’s not a setting. Something like this:
