I haven’t used the extender/repeater from Gefen, but we have some of their DVI cables. We had some of the orange fibre cables, but they broke after a year. We also have some of the 15′ cables for Apple monitors (blue with usb and firewire) that have worked well. Currently he have two of the 15′ Apple cables connected together to go to a 23″ display. It’s working fine.

We’ll be replace our cables soon with the ethernet DVI extender solutions.

    Russell,
Thanx for the reply. If i understand you correctly, you aren’t using ANY kind of signal repeater, just cables?

and if so, can you tell me where you got the cables from?

    thanx again

I used cobalt cable from the mac into the studio (12 metre cable). The Gefen DVI repeater went on the end of this cable then the 23″ Cinema display plugged into the DVI repeater.

When I put the DVI repeater at the mac end, then the cable into the studio, there were dropped pixels and noise in the blacks. Try putting the extender at the end of the cable.
