  • Where is the logic: rightclick and choosing crossfade in timeline

One thing I find annoying is working with crossfades in fcp. If I rightclick in the timeline on a cut, and choose “add transition Crossfade” I’ll also get a video crossfade. (How often do you really need a video crossfade anyways). The way I add crossfades now is to use the pulldown menu, which is a bit tedious. Any clues on how to add crossfades fast ? Or maybe I could edit the rightclick menu in a way ?

    Isn’t the quick key combination Apple-T? Option-T?

Or you can do what I do, which is add it to my FAVORITES folder, then make the key to my keyboard…the F-Keys.

If you hold down “alt” while right clicking it will only apply the crossfade to the video or audio, depending where you click.

So if you hold alt, right click on an audio track and apply the crossfade it will only affect the audio.

If you hold alt and right click on a video track it will only crossfade the video.

right. I can select one track if I hold down alt, but I am working with 4 tracks on each clip, so it doesnt work well. (And it looks like this works ok with stereo, but not monotracks, cause you have to put the fade on each track with the alt method)

If you select the edit (v on the keyboard) and press alt-command-t you’ll get audio transition only.
