59.94 HVX footage to 23.98
Posted by Pizmomac on June 8, 2007 at 10:10 pmI’m working on a doc that was shot almost entirely at 23.98 except for one tape that was shot at 59.94. What is the best way to have the right frames flagged and removed in order for it to play in a 23.98 timeline?

June 8, 2007 at 10:37 pmUsing programs like Magic Bullet or Shake do a great job. The new version of Compressor (3) has shakes optical flow and “should” do a great job with this.

June 8, 2007 at 11:49 pmDoes the footage have duplicate frames? Meaning was it shot at 24P instead of 24PN? Or is the footage true 59.94?
If it’s duplicate frames you could try the DVCPROHD frame rate converter or Nattress Standards converter.
If it’s true 59.94 then you can still use Nattress Standards converter or maybe Compressor.

This is where you lose me. HVX-200…shot on tape at 59.94. The only tape format that camera shoots is DV, and DV doesn’t have that frame rate. That is HD only, and that camera only shoots HD onto p2 cards…in which there is no cadence to detect and remove when importing.

June 11, 2007 at 10:43 pmIt is all p2 footage, I guess my question was about the cadence and I guess you answer my inquiry by saying the cadence is lost.
