  loading illustrator file takes FOREEEVER

  I am importing an illustrator file that is a semi detailed aerial view of a city section. This file is taking around 20 minutes to load in after effects. The project loads with everything else just fine but this one AI file is taking painfully long every time I open and close I have to wait nearly 20 mins to see this map. I had an older version of the map which loaded in under a minute now this new one takes forever. (I didn’t create the map) Any help or suggestions to speed this up?

  Have whoever created it flatten it and organize in sensible layers. Sounds like every object is separate and thus takes forever. If all else fails, simply export it as a PSD or whatever.

  I need it as a vector cause I’m doing alot of zooming. But I’ll check out the flatten that you suggested. Thanks!
