  General Error 46-FCP won’t read project

  Hi

  I have FCP 5.5 at home and at the office. Both Mac X OP systems

  I worked on a project at home and the entire project w/ all files is on an external drive…I brought the drive to work and when I CLICK on the FCP file, it will not open up and gives me an ERROR 46 pop up message.

  Why won’t it open the project? Has this happened to anyone?

  Thanks for any suggestions…

  It’s probably a mismatch in FCP versions. There was no “FCP 5.5” release. Which one is it really?

  Check both computers, and make sure they are running the exact same verison of FCP. Also, note the version of the OS and QuickTime, too.

  If they are not the exact same version (eg FCP 5.1.4), the one that is “higher” will create files that will not be recognized by the older version.
