Whenever I try to capture new footage into FCP ver. 3 after about a minute, the video freezes up but the audio continues making them out of sync. Plus there’s now a second pause in the video clip. I’ve tried adjusting the A/V settings and cleaning the tape heads to no avail. Most of my footage is MiniDV shot on a Canon XL2 at 24p.

PLEASE HELP; I’ve got a project due in a few weeks and need to get this problem hashed out.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

How exactly do I go about trashing my preference files?

Also, another person suggested the problem may stem from me moving files around from one hard drive to another. I switched one project in Media Manager and moved around other files, changed scratch disks as the drives were filling up and I want to say that the capturing problem began around the same time… could the moving around of things have anything to do with my problem?

Trashing preferences has been covered on here a lot, there are actually a few programs that will do it for you, I do not remember the web links for them, but I am sure that a quick search of the forum will bring them up.
