Can anyone suggest a fairly cost effective software package or plug-in that will add closed captioning to high definition video? All of our suites have been updated with the FCP 5.1.4 crossgrade with future plans to upgrade to Final Cut 6. CC format must be compatible with current public broadcasting standards. We currently deliver on HDCAM using DVCPROHD codec.

    Thanks,

Check out MacCaption. Don’t know about HD compatibility, but it was by far the best solution I found when looking in to this a year or so ago.

I should also add we found it easier and cheaper to have it done out of house-

Thanks for the suggestion. MacCaption definitely seems to be one of the more popular options. And yes, considering the price, it would be just as much if not cheaper to sub it out.
