960×720 to 1280×720
Hello all –
I have 960×720 DVCPROHD 720p Anamorphic Quicktimes that I need to stretch to 1280×720 uncompressed square-pixel Quicktimes for our 3D/effects/finishing guys who are in the PC world. I’ve heard that doing this within FCP is the best bet because FCP recognizes the anamorphic “flag” and simply outputs the new footage without doing any scaling math. But when I “Export using quicktime conversion” the results have jagged edges. When I export from Quicktime pro itself, the footage looks great, i.e. just like the 960×720 originals. I’m planning to simply use QTPro, but wanted to get others’ thoughts. Thanks in advance.

You could use compressor. That would probably do a nice job too.

I use compressor for this. It’s probably best to make your own preset, and you can even make that preset the default,along with the folder you want to put your output into.

Did you check to see if High Quality video was selected in QT – Movie Properties – Video Track – Visual Settings window?
DV files normally look like crap in QT unless this is selected. It might make a difference with how you exported it.
