Searched the previous posts and couldn’t find anything that directly relates to this. I work at a small post company currently finishing 26 episodes of about seven shows off 13 shared 1.2 tb drives through a fibrejet system. Every editor is now scrambling to media manage our completed shows, as there’s a lot of footage, and not a lot of space for us to continue work.

We’re all coming up with more error messages than we can shake a stick at. “Clip 22 could not be reconnected”. Oftentimes throwing away the media folder we’ve just created, and starting fresh solves that issue, but not always. Then, upon opening the media managed project, we find several more clips offline.

I should mention that this is mostly happening to shows with multiclip use, and the problem seems to exist whether “include non-active multiclip angles” is checked or unchecked. We’re using the Copy, rather than Move selection, and we ARE including associated media files.

I’ve used media manager successfully in the past many times, but not necessarily with this many source drives, or with this much shared material (graphics packages, b-roll libraries, music libraries, etc).

It feels like we’ve exhausted all workarounds to no luck.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Unless strict file naming proceedures were followed from the start there can be many such issues when media managing, and those are only compounded on big projects with multiple users. For example, if any file names were duplicated when being digitized, as you might imagine, the consequences can be enormous. If you think that could be a problem in your case you’d best stay clear of Media Manager and find a workaround.
