• Using FCP 5.1.2 on current project, need to mirror on 2 MacBook Pros

I am on a current project using FCP 5.1.2 / OS 10.4.8 and need to mirror the project on 2 new MacBook Pros for backup/redundency purposes (It’s a live event and we can’t afford to have a computer go down).

I want all three to have FCP 5.1.2 because I don’t want to upgrade my main computer mid-project.

The software I install is FCP 5.1. Where do I find the FCP 5.1.2 update? I really don’t want to go against all my experience and upgrade mid-project to 5.1.4.

FCP 5.1.2 is no longer available for download…at least from Apple. BUT, I do have an interesting tidbit of info. Projects created with FCP 5.1.2 can be opened in 5.1.4 without it being updated. FCP 5.1.4 will open the project, and you can make changes and save and FCP 5.1.2 can still open it. I discovered this when I had a project I couldn’t open on my tower (FCP 5.1.2) and was able to open it on my laptop (FCP 5.1.4) and SAVE AS. Then the project opened on my tower.

So far this is the only instance of backwards compatibility that I know of.

Currently what’s the most stable OS to be running if I upgrade to FCP 5.1.4?
