  • Import xml files using P2 and rendering timeline

I’m currently working on a HD project which requires me to imort all my clips rather than to capture.
I am importing xml files (the Panasonic HD DVC Pro camera was used which records to the harddrive) into final cut using the Panasonic P2.
But when i put these clips into the time line they need rendering.
My Sequence is preset to DVCPRO HD – 1080i60.
Capture Prest is DVCPRO HD – 1080i60 48kHz

    please help

Since you’re using P2, and the FCP P2 Import window (not sure why you’re bothering with XML, unless you’re wasting time with P2 Log), Capture Presets are of no importance, and make no impact on your project.

If you shot in 1080i60, you should use the Easy Setup to make your project 108i60. Then there will be no rendering. If you have to render a clip the moment you drop it into the Timeline window, your Sequence settings don’t match your Clip settings.

Righ click on a clip in the Browser and from the pop-up menu go to Item Properties and double check the format of your clips. In DVCPRO-HD there are a ton of variables that could not match and cause a need for rendering.

Again, I’d blow off P2 Log and just import the stuff with FCP’s P2 Import window. I’ve been using the HVX and FCP for a year now, hardley a problem.
