Hey guys, noob at after effects here. I think i did everything right in the liquid light tutorial for trapcode’s 3-d shine and stroke that someone made here at creativecow.net. However i get lost at step four, which is precomping and stuff. Could someone please explain what i have to precomp and which options i need to check off (i.e. move all things to new comp…)

Haha also one more quick question that im sure someone will be able to answer in one sentence. Sometimes when im fooling around with a comp, like in this one, my preview will get weird, like excluding solid colors and just showing the masks, and not showing the effects like 3d stroke. How do you go back to the preview of everything?

Press “0” on the numeric pad to do a ram preview.

In response to your first question:

It seems like the Solid you were working on in step 3, Black Solid 6, needs to be precomped, Layer>Precompose, move all attributes and open, because you need to put the color comp inside this new comp (now opened).
