Is there a generally accepted broadcast standard for minimum text size/height. I have seen various standards that talk about 16px, 14 px, 20px but many dont explain what they ate measuring – lower case x, upper case T or…???

    Thanks for any help

    Hi,
I don’t know about general minimum test sizes, I suppose go as small as possible, as long as you can read it and you don’t get field flicker issues.
I do know that the minimum requirement for character sizes on legal information, stuff like T’s & Cs for competitions and the like, for one broadcaster in the U.K is 16 T.V lines. This measurement I have always done using a lower case white ‘v’ on a black background, then used a waveform monitor to measure it.
    Hope that helps…
