Just how important is the response time / refresh rate in computer displays? I hear good things about the dell 2407 yet it response rate is 6ms.

A trusted friend and long-time video pro says nothing under 8 ms.

The apple cinema diplays are 16ms.

If I am using a ntsc video monitor for critical viewing, then is it ok to get a monitor with a 5 or 6 ms response time?

If you are using a monitor (as you should) for video output, why would you worry about the response time of the monitor? Can’t see the problem – and assuredly the Mac displays will get a performance upgrade soon anyway. Many people here swear by the Dells.

Of course, the Cow knows if I’m wrong…
