partitioning drives? should I be doing this?
I have been editing a large project with a 500 gig external drive. I have the render files on my internal 500 drive. My internal drive has no partition, which someone explained to me today (which makes a lot of sense) that all the files that are changing, being deleted and added are being intermixed with my applications, which will cause them to run slower.
Anyone have any advice on how to set up my internal drive to run FCP? I am now capturing media to this drive as well (my external is full) for other projects, and don’t want to get to deep into it figuring I have to erase the disk to partition it. Any articles or hints on this would be greatly appreciated. I read that some people put media on one drive, render files on another (partition) and apps on a third. Do you guys do this?
Thanks in advance!
