Problem transition Quad vs MacPro
Hi,
I capture my DVCPRO50 anamorphic footage recorded with a Panasonic SDX900 or HVX200 P2 in FCP 5.1.4 and I edit it in a 4:3 sequence. FCP apply to my footage e distotrion filter at -33.33 for viewing end export to my betacamsp in letterbox. My old problem is: I apply a transitione between two clips on my Mac Quad when the transition start I see my video move up verticaly by 1 line and when the transition end my video move down 1 line. If I render the transition all play fine. While on my MAC PRO same scenario but I apply over my two clip with transition a Boris title 3D I see a orange line (with Quad was dark green) but video play fine but when I render the trasition I see my video moves up verticaly by 1 line and then down by 1 line at and so I must render not only all trasition but all sequence. I see this problem on all my Intel Mac.

Yeah, you need to render everything prior to output. Dark green, orange, whatever.

Ok, but with quad I have never rendered for edit to tape a dark green sequence. Only with Macpro.

MacPro is a quad. Do you mean a G5? Anyway, it’s probably something specific to what you’ve got in the sequence. For example, you always had to render jpeg on G5, no matter what the green line was. It just didn’t do it right. It would be soft or shift just as you describe.
Perhaps you have less ram, a lesser video card, something, in your MacPro system.

Thank you Bret, My MacPro have 5gb ram and Kona3 with Raid Sata.
Same configuration with Quad (G5) but with 4Gb ram.Same scenario: V1 two clips (DVCPRO50) with distortion at -33.33, between these a cross dissolve. V2 Boris title 3D.

Quad (G5) dark green line (real time)I have tried same scenario on Macbook Pro 17 with Aja IO: Light green light.
So I thing that FCP 5.1 is fastest on PowerPc for real time, fastest on intel for render. -
So what speed is your MacPro? Tests have shown that for FCP the Intel chips are basically the same speed as the G5 chips, mhz for mhz. Rendering on the Mac pro 3ghz quad was a tiny bit faster than the fastest G5 quad.
Other programs – like Adobe After Effects- which utilize cache better than FCP, gain incredible speed gains because the RAM and Cache is faster in the mac pros.
And still your graphics card might be better in the G5? Perhaps you’ve got some settings different? Perhaps the BORIS stuff isn’t updated for the intel processors yet. Lots of things.

My MacPro is a 2.66ghz with a standard Video Card (7300 Gt) and the problem doesn’t change if i remove from V2 boris title 3D. (Same problem with My Mac Book Pro)
I Wait FCS2But Rt extreme charge on processors or Video card?
