  16:9 Workflow Question

  I shot on a Canon XL-2 in 16:9.

  I want to finish on DVD for stardard 4×3 television.

  FCP – I captured with anamorphic checked. Should the sequence setting be checked for anamorphic?

  Compressor – Compress as a 16:9 or 4:3?

  DVD Studio Pro – Set the Track aspect ratio to 16:9 or 4×3?

  Yes, cut in anamorphic. Before exporting, drop your sequence into a standard DV sequence. It auto-letterboxes in standard def. Then you just export via Compressor as standard def and you’re good to go.

  Or you can keep all in 16×9 to keep the ful quality . In Compressor you have the pre-sets for 16×9 and DVDSTpro will manage them without any problem, Some old DVD players may not display the film in 16×9 and will do it in 4×3, but just the really old ones.
