is the audio supposed to come out 8db lower than the original? I seem to have no options for adjustment inside mpstreamclip, but when I export an m2v as an mpeg w/ mpg2 audio the audio ends up much lower. Is that something to do with the nature of a program stream?

    Mark,

don’t have an answer for you but I’m interested to see that you’ve been able to export mpg2s from fcp…or are you talking about compressor ? I’ve been trying an “easy” way to export mpg2s from FCP (with both audio and video) for a long time. any info you can provide would be super.

    thanks

Mark I think that the MPEG audio (MPG-1 layer II) is quite oldfashioned format and it doesn’t give much quality.
Is posible to make a MPG2 with audio (MPG-1 LII) in Compressor, although I;ve never tried.
Open a MPG2 preset and in the “Extras” tab you got the option. QT can not mux MPG2. ffMPGx I think can do it.
    Cheers,
    rafael
