I will try to give details so that everyone knows what I know and have tried.

First I have FCP 5.1.4 and a mac os x 10.4.8 2×3 ghz dual core intel xeon
and my memory seems to be part of the issue.

When using FCP it will intermittently ( about 15 min ) lock up the whole system to where I have to shut it down with the power button on the front.

I believe the issue has to do with memory we have added.

when we use the original memory (4 x 512 mb chips )it works fine.
when we add 4 2gb chips that’s when we have a problem.
They are netlist chips which I believe are apple certified and should work.
I’ve heard macs don’t like anything but apple memory.

I have tried putting the new in the position of the old.
I have gotten replacement netlist chips.
it only happens when using FCP

Can anyone give me any help as to options I have.
or do I just need to get apple memory.
