60 fps varicam footage
What is the process from capture (with the 1200 deck) to edit with Varicam footage shot on 60fps?
I’ve done the FCP easy setup for DVCHD 720 60 but now in my browser, the footage is still running at normal speed.

What do you mean “normal speed?” 720p60 runs at 59.94 fps. It looks like ultra smooth video, because it is. Do you mean that you want to slow 720p60 down to 30fps or 23.98fps for nice slow motion? You use the Frame Rate Converter (in the TOOLS menu) do to that.

If the footage was shot at 60fps in camera then you do need to capture the clip regularly and run the clip through FCP’s frame rate converter. To get teh benifits of the 2.5 times slo motion you need to be editin in a 24P timeline. FOr 2 time slomotion then you edit at 30. FPS.
It’s a good idea to capture the 60FPS clips separately and bring in a copy of the capture clips to run through the Frame rate converter.
In doing this the converter will remove the flagged fames to ensure the correct plaback speed.

I shot at 60fps, FCP easy setup for 60 then when I highlight the clip in my browser and go to TOOLS framer converter- nothing happens. The app just sits.

I am not askin gthis to be rude, but how well do you grasp the concepts of shooting speed. Are you certain that the footage was actually shot at 60Frames per second, as set up in the HVX200 or the Panasonic Varicam.

Just re-read the post. So to see the slomo you have to place the footage in a @$P sequence.
You should see a little progress bat whent he Frame Rate Converter is engaged. How are you bringing it in?
