  Problem with corrupted render files!

  Hi all,

  Lately I’m working on a dv pal project in FCP 5. All my footage, audio and video render files are store in a portable lacie drive (I set my scratch disk to the lacie drive). As my workplace has a few edit suites (all running FCP 5), I realised that when I move around the different suites to edit, some of my sequence render files will appear to be corrupted (such as when I play rendered clip A, the playback will be of some other clip in the same project), audio and video will sometimes go off sync, some clips or music will go offline despite they are in the same lacie drive.

  I try trashing the FCP preferences but these problems still persist. I suspect there’s a memory problem. Anyone can help?

  Hi,
  I think that to have the footage and the audio and video render files in the same HD is the reason of your problems. Normally I put my footage in a external HD and the video render files in another. The audio render files I let them in the Main HD because in the end audio is lighter to move than video.
  If all of the edit suits in your workplace haven’t got the same configuration, is possible that some of them read your project properly and some others they can not.

  And set your external HDs “NOT JOURNALD”.
