FCP versions
Posted by J. Tad newberry on April 5, 2007 at 4:14 pmi am currently running FCP 5.0.4 on my G5, but i see there 5.1+ updates IF you already have 5.1 installed. so where do you get 5.1, to be able to install the upgrades at ? under the apple menu, if i click on “software update”, it says i am up to date. within FCP, under help going to “FCP on the web”, it talks about 5.1, but i don’t see where to get it.

April 5, 2007 at 4:27 pmThe universal crossgrade to 5.01 has ended. It required sending in your disks and $49. Now you will have to see what the new deal is after Apple announces what its offereing at NAB on April 15th.

Mortimer,
Sorry, but we’ve been discussing the universal crossgrade here on the Cow since May of last year.
BTW, as I tell everyone I know in the business, read the Cow daily so you will know what you need to know before it happens to you. Invariably, someone here will encounter an issue before it strikes me — thus, I usually know its coming and know the fix before it actually happens.
In the case of the crossgrade, several people here posted warnings as the end of the crossgrade approached. Many heeded that warning and were saved.

Amen, so many people only start looking once they have a problem.
