10.4.9 and QT 7.1.5 observation
Posted by Chris Poisson on April 5, 2007 at 1:07 pmI upgraded to this on my everyday machine, and ever since then if I bring over a QT file from one of my production machines it has no icon and if I double click it opens in Real Player! Go figure.
Any issues with this upgrade and FCP Studio? May as well go for it as I’m between major jobs, unless I hear differently…

April 5, 2007 at 6:02 pmWalter, now that you upgraded, check out my jitter problem.. Squeeze a DV video down over a color matte in a 8 bit yuv targa timeline. Add a big feathered edge and drop shadow to the dv squeeezed image after rendering does the outer edge of the dv footage jitter on your ntsc monitor??

However, you should be able to Get INfo on one of them, change the Open With setting to QT and then hit the "apply to all similar files" button. Any QT file we upload to our server has a generic icon when we download it back to an editor. Quirkiness fo the Winderz/mac network. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

April 6, 2007 at 1:31 amOk, just had a HUGE crash with 10.4.9, FCP 5.1.4 and QT 7.1.5. Left the machine rendering for 4.5 hours, came in to the shop and decided to finish the render tomorrow. Hit “Cancel” and FCP just disappeared. No “unexpected quit” warning, nothing. Of course, re-start FCP and all that render was for naught. I’ll have to re-render starting from scratch tomorrow.
Did not see that at all with the FCP 5.1.2 setup.

April 6, 2007 at 2:38 amWell,
When I finished the Software Update this morning, my second LCD monitor was gone. The DVI out of that side of the card doesn’t seem to work anymore. It does work with a VGA adapter on it, but just seems weird.

April 6, 2007 at 6:38 pmHey All- I just reinstalled 10.4.8 after numerous problems with the update. I didnt have the same issues as previous posts but my issues arose with compressor and dvd-rom disks I had burned after the update not being able to be read my the authoring machine when they were reinserted.
I inquired with a Mac tech and he said he had seen numerous stange problems come in that were solved by archiving and reinstalling the OS updated to 10.4.8 only. He recomended waiting for Leopard before next update.
