I’m looking to export several timelines from FCP Studio and bring them into squeeze so I can compress them all into different formats simultaneously. What is the best export out of FCP for this?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Export them as a Quicktime reference file or a self-contained QT using “Current Settings”.
I do both, but prefer the self-contained to save as a master digital file.

Actually, if you’re going to make a self-contained QT for import into Squeeze, it should be UNcompressed. This can generate a very large file, but Sorenson recommends uncompressed or reference files.

I have just been doing this very thing, and for me the uncompressed method was just far too big and cumbersome – 65 videos that needed 3 different .flv’s from each. After a bit of experimentation i stuck with using photo jpeg set to medium quality, and saved to Squeezes watch folder.

The final compressed flvs look no different from those squeezed from uncompressed source material and storage needs for the photo jpegs are about a tenth of that for uncompressed.
