April 2, 2007 at 12:54 pm[matt robson] “Really? Can you be any more specific?”
Apple is hosting a press event on Sunday, April 15, the day before NAB opens. They will most likely show off the new FCP Studio or at least elements of it and should announce a shipping timeframe as well. What Tom is suggesting is that you wait until those announcements until you make your purchase.

April 2, 2007 at 1:46 pmUnless you’ve just gotten an Intel Mac, there’s no reason you’d NEED to upgrade. Like Walter said, the announcement for the next version is April 15th, and it’ll probably ship sometime in late May or early June. Wait a couple weeks if you can, and then if for whatever reason, their time frame doesn’t work for you then you’ll have to bite the bullet.

April 2, 2007 at 5:25 pmListen, this cross grade was available for something like 6 or 8 months. It was widely publicized. It was even extended. I just don’t see what kind of assistance you think you might find here.

But my partner, silly goose, sat on his butt until just three weeks ago! He would NEVER have realized he hadn't upgraded if I hadn't tried to hand off a project from my 5.1+ machine to his 5.0+ machine. That was a squeaker. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Apple gave everyone plenty of time to do the cross grade at the low price.
