FCP 5.1.4. exporting TGA image sequence problems…
Hey guys,
I’m trying to xport an TGA image sequence I shot on the HVX200 at 1080×1280 for graphics work in MAYA. It appears squashed 4:3 after export. All the settings are fine and if I export a quicktime using current settings, nothing is wrong. I heard it was a bug in FCP and that I should try using quicktime pro, but that does the same thing.
Anyone had any luck exporting HD still image sequences in FCP (5.1.4)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’m pulling out my hair here.

All native anamorphic formats export as anamorphic still sequences, there is no way in QT File Conversion to force them to maintain 16×9 aspect ratio. The anamorphic squeeze is the native aspect ratio and is thus technically as it should be. The anamorphic still sequence should be quite easy to deal with inside AE, so long as you can get it to display unsqeezed while you do your work. And, the anamorphic files will display properly when brought back into FCP as well. So, if you re-export an anamorphic TGA seq from AE after you done your compositing you will have kept everything native throughout the process.

All DVC Pro HD codecs are anamorphic. When I want to make a square pixel image sequence from DVC Pro HD, I use compressor. If you’re going to do this with any frequency, you can make yourself a preset in Compressor with the specs that you need or prefer.

My bad… I’ve been using it for tiff sequences. I just assumed that it would to targas as well.
You could always copy & past your clips into an uncompressed sequence & export your targas from there. Then they should be square pixel.
