  Capture setup for DVCProHD using Pan 1200 deck via firewire?

  I shoot with Varicam for the first time and am using the 1200 HD for the first time. Having trouble finding a capture setting that works

  Footage was shoot 24P and I will edit 720P @ 24P (23.98) timeline.

  If I use the easy set up for DVCProHD 24P I get deck control but no audio or video.

  If I change the preset to –
  QT Setting
  Digitizer: DV VIdeo Compressor: DVCPro HD 720p60
  Input: AJ-YAD120AG FPS: 23.98

  QT Audio Setting
  DV Audio…

  I get audio and video but the video is more wide screen than 16:9 – and it is letterboxed. No red render lines. Video looks correct in capture preview. But the video is also very pixelated.

  Any ideas – has to finish capturing by Monday.

  DVCPro HD 720/24 is the correct capture preset.

  What version of FCP are you using? What computer?

  The problem was the deck setting, it was a rental and no manual but I was able to download it from Panasonic along with a flow chart that told me what menus to set as well as the settings. Wish every hardware manufacturer put manuals online and made them easy to get to.

  This has been a wierd capturing process, I still could not do log and capture, stop with a “wrong cadience” error every time but I did fine with capture now, which is the way I captured all the tapes. Seems like I have been fighting the project every step of the capture, p2, firestore and tape, but it all seems to be okay in the end.
