Hi, Im trying to help a friend finish up a project.
He sent me a Lacie drive with the media but when i try to open it it gives me an error:

File format is too new for this version of the application-

Im running a FCP 5.0.4 with AJA KONA HD card, so i relly dont know eve when to start.

also, if im not able to retrieve this, is there a way to batch import a sequence of files, or a last EDL of those projects?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Well, to start with you have not mentioned what codec your friend was editing in. However, your friend is most likely editing on a newer version of FCP than you, with a newer version of QT than you, or more than likely, both. You will need to find out what versions of bot software he’s using.

Get your friend to export an XML of his project…you should be able to import that.

An XML export of the project should be importable into your FCP. This doesn’t eliminate the possiblity of codec or QT incompatitiblites though.

He has a Kona, which can pretty much work with everything, including material digitized from other capture cards. Though you are right, it cant be ruled out.
