  won’t stop rendering on startup disk in applications folder

  Hello

  I have a firewire 800 drive connected to my powerbook and in the fcp system settings I have set all scratch disk locations to point to a folder called fcp on this external drive. yet, i noticed my internal drive kept losing space, and upon using OmniDiskSweeper, i discovered render files were being placed into the Applications>Final Cut Pro HD>Contents>Mac OSX folder within the application. How can I stop the startup disk from being the render file repository and get the scratch disks assigned to be the ones actually used?

  Have you tried trashing the FCP preference files?

  solved the problem with a combination of three steps

  1) Renamed the final cut scratch disk folder from fcp to Final Cut Pro Documents and set all disk operations to point to this folder.

  2) Used the Render Manager to delete all render files ever created, even for old projects.

  3) Did a File > Save As… to resave the project with a new name.
