  • FCP 5.1.2 vs. 5.1.3

I recently upgraded my G5 system to be 10.4.8 and FCP to be 5.1.3, but the other two systems at my company are still 10.4.7 and FCP 5.1.2. I noticed that the color bars in my Final Cut show up as just a green screen, and the other two systems cannot open projects that I created. My company prefers the older versions for the G5 and Final Cut, so I was wondering what my easiest solution would be for this. Is there a way to go back a version update, or would I have to reinstall Final Cut? Thanks for your time and help!

Apple does not work backwards, a re-install is what you need to do.

Or upgrade everything to 5.1.4. 5.1.3 was the shortest lived version in FCP history I think. 5.1.4 seems to be an improvemetn over 5.1.2 on my DV based system, but if you have kona or IO or decklink or any other hardware you should check with them before you upgrade.

But in any case, go backward or forward. Say no to 5.1.3.

Your other systems should at least be 5.1.2. It’s not just for intel. It’s an upgraded version. There are a good number of little features, new effects, and of course bug fixes compared to 5.0.x versions.

does 5.1.4 bring back the same level of realtime functionality as 5.1.2?

I am looking all over for a way to get back to 5.1.2 .
    I re-installed my 5.1 but I can’t locate the upgrade to 5.1.2.
All I see on Apple’s website is 5.1.4??
Is there a way to get the 5.1.2 upgrade from Apple?

[easyease] “Is there a way to get the 5.1.2 upgrade from Apple?”

Nope…once the upgrade is made available, the older ones are pulled. Red Giant offered it up for download when FCP 5.1.3 broke their plugin. I think it is still up for grabs:

Thanks but their link is no longer working.
I just updated to 5.1.4 and I am wringing my hands.

I thought it might not work. Because things were working again in 5.1.4 for them.
