  • digital cinema desktop preview – cannot adjust aspect ratio

    Hi there,
I want to playback 4:3 aspect material (1024×768) on a second DVI display set to 1024×768 from within FCP using digital cinema desktop preview – this is to drive a projector. I’ve created a sequence at that resolution.
No matter how I set up the playback, FCP always puts the material on the second display in a vertically squeezed form – i.e. black bars at the top and bottom of the display. This happens while the material is playing. When I stop playback, FCP puts up a still that does fill the 1024×758 frame WITHOUT black bars. Now that’s what I want DURING playback. Have tried all sorts of combinations of Video Setup and Video Playback Modes.
    Anyone had similar problems? Suggestions?
    Thanks,

What’s the source of the material? Is it anamorphic or square pixels?
