Problems with huge Project File
Maybe I’m just not very bright, but does anyone know why my project file went from around 55 mb to over 500 mb upon upgrading to FCP 5? I’ve since updated to 5.1.4. This massive project file is really slowing my system down (PowerPC dual 1.8 Ghz w/ 1gb RAM). It takes a while to open and about 5 minutes each time I go to save it.
Any ideas?

That is a huge file. I’ve never seen an FCP file anywhere that big in my life. The first thing I’d do is find some way to break it down into smaller projects.

That is very strange indeed. The largest project file I’ve seen is in the 100mb range for a really large documentary. No clue why just changing the version would cause a jump.

You guys should talk to Noah Kadner. ;O)
I find it best to avoid upgrading mid-project. Try copying out sequences and media and pasting into a fresh new project to see if that reduces bloat.
