I’m on a network and just told FCP to output the 29m30s show to my network drive. It saved the file in four pieces with the last four followed by the suffix av1, 2, and 3. The first three files are 2,095,229kb and the last is 595,208kb.

If I didn’t know better, I would think that this was a FAT drive and the maximum file size was 2GIG. However I know it’s an linux drive and that many files on that drive are large, from six to 12 gig, depending on the source content.

Does FCP break up all files this way, or is somehting else going on?

It will break them up like that if the drive is not Mac Os Extended.

    All the best,

I tried writing the file to the local hard drive, then copying it to the network drive. It worked, but now the conversion program doesn’t seem to see the file.

Oh well, tech support, here I come.

I had the same problem caused by dirty camera heads and dropped time code.
