I’ve been watching the recent updates from a distance here, but I’ve stayed at 5.1.1 out of fear. =)

One of our editors ran the Software Update when it popped up the other day (he’s a former Avid guy and didn’t know better) and he is now on 5.1.2. We do share projects occasionally here, and that has obviously created a problem when we need to open one of his projects. So I almost updated everybody to 5.1.3 yesterday, only to see a new release come out.

As soon as some of you brave, pioneering souls (that now have 5.1.3) get 5.1.4 running please post!

5.1.3 introduced a number of bugs. 5.1.4 was released quickly to deal with fixing them.

I would recommend doing the Upgrade to 5.1.4 over staying with 5.1.3.

But if you were happy with the older version, you might want to reinstall and go to 5.1.1.

I’ve heard rumors that there are still some plug-in related bugs with 5.14. some boris plugs not working properly…

I’ve put about 10hours editing time in on 5.14 and haven’t run into any issues yet…. but so far i’ve been using mostly stock effects… i’ll be doing some flashier editing later,, very plug-in intensive.. i’ll let you know if I have any trouble..

If you follow the install instructions at the Boris website you should have no problem. I’ve been running BCC 4 and RED 4.1 with FCP 5.1.2 – 5.1.3 – and now 5.1.4 with no problems. The BCC4 Transitions are however still broken.

The Boris plugs have been bothered by FCPs new fxplug architecture released since FCP 5.1.2. Boris and others have been plagued since 5.1.2 came out.

The reason I asked is because I’m using them under 5.1.3 and 5.1.4 on G5 and Intel. Yes, I installed the patch for Intel and the one for FCP that were released. So I was wondering what the issues were.

You can go to BorisFX.com and look at the known issues with FCP 5.1.2.
