  Firestore Workflow Advice

  Hi everyone

  I know this is a newbie question I’m just tired of trying to find the answer online to no avail.

  Using a Firestore drive to capture video (DVC_PRO HD)

  Organizing drive to p2 before capturing in FCP 5.1.2

  Files come in beautiful but broken up into no bigger than 2mins each approx.

  Now I’ve read there is some issue with the drive being set at Fat32 so it can’t capture files over 2 or 4 gig

  BUT??? is there a way to bring in the files linked up. There must be. All those little files in a 30 min interview is unwieldy.

  I just want to know the corrrect workflow for this before I waste any more time.

  Fat 32 formatting does separate these files into 2:18:00 length clips,(unless you are using the new Pn mode which brings in continuous clips at over 5 minutes in length). When using 720P and importing using the P2 presets in FCP, my first set of continuous clips would come in spanned, but the rest come in as you describe. There seems to be no fixed standard to this behaviour. If you use the Quicktime mode, all clips will come in separately. This really shouldn’t be that much of a problem for you, either select them all and drag them in the timeline, and/or created a nested sequence once you have dragged the clips into the TL.
